ATLAS / PILOT & HOST SETUP

SET UP ATLAS
FOR DCS WORLD & SRS.

A practical route from downloading ATLAS to checking your first radio session. The host integration and the pilot Radio client serve different roles: check both before troubleshooting the voice workflow.

One ATLAS installer. Radio is separate.

The current website release uses a single full Windows installer. You do not need the BIN parts from the older split package. Existing compatible ATLAS Radio installations can stay.

Before you install

Prepare a Windows PC with DCS World, the terrain and aircraft needed for your mission, SRS and a working microphone. ATLAS does not include DCS terrain or module licenses.

Check that the mission, airfield and procedure you plan to use are supported by your installed ATLAS build. The DCS AI ATC overview explains the supported workflow categories; the release documentation gives the details for your build.

Host setup

The ATLAS runtime needs its DCS integration applied to the correct DCS Saved Games profile. This connects the runtime with the selected simulation setup.

Pilot setup

ATLAS Radio is the separate client for pilot PCs. Use a compatible version and the frequency reference supplied with the release.

Installation checklist

  1. Download the current full installer.

Use ATLAS for Windows on the download page. Test27.20 is approximately 2.93 GB because the package includes local voice models. Keep the release’s pilot guide and frequency reference handy.

  2. Close ATLAS and DCS, then run Setup.

Do this before installing or updating the runtime. The website’s single installer replaces the need to download separate BIN parts for this release.

  3. Select the correct Saved Games profile.

Apply the host DCS integration to the profile used by the DCS installation you will actually launch. If you use multiple profiles, confirm the selected one rather than assuming the default is correct.

  4. Prepare ATLAS Radio on pilot PCs.

Install or update the separate Radio client where required. You can keep an existing compatible Radio installation; the full ATLAS installer and Radio installer are different downloads.

  5. Restart and check the selected setup.

Restart ATLAS and DCS after applying the integration. Follow the pilot guide for your host configuration and the mission you are joining before attempting an ATC workflow.

Before your first radio call

Use a supported airfield and a simple flight first. The goal is to establish that the pilot, radio setup and host integration agree before trying a longer procedure.

  • Confirm that you are using the intended DCS profile and mission.
  • Check SRS, your microphone and the Radio client using the instructions for your configuration.
  • Use the frequency reference that matches the release; do not infer a frequency from a website animation.
  • Follow the supported controller workflow, including required readbacks and clearance checks.
  • Verify a short interaction before attempting the full taxi, departure and return sequence.

The homepage’s interactive ATC sequence explains the overall flow. It is an illustrative schematic, not live mission data or a replacement for the release guide.

If something is missing

The download instructions mention BIN files.

You may be reading the older split-package instructions. The current website release is a single installer and requires no BIN files. Use the installation notes linked below.

The host integration was applied, but the session still does not behave as expected.

Recheck the selected Saved Games profile and restart ATLAS and DCS. Then check the current pilot guide for mission and feature requirements. Installing files alone does not establish that every terrain or procedure is supported.

ATLAS is installed, but a pilot has not installed Radio.

Check whether that pilot PC already has the compatible Radio client. If not, obtain the separate Radio installer from the download page.

A controller or procedure is unavailable.

Verify the airfield, frequency, mission and release support before assuming the installation is faulty. Beta coverage varies by configuration; the guide and frequency reference are the starting point.

Keep the release documentation nearby

This checklist is based on the current website installation notes. Use the pilot guide for detailed operation and the frequency reference for your airfield. When the release changes, check its documentation again.

ATLAS is an independent, open-beta project for DCS World and is for simulation use only. Automated tests do not replace live multiplayer validation.
